“Beginning gymnastics at Scallywaggs has been the best thing for him this year”
Dear Kit and Rod
My sons enjoy gymnastics lessons every single week. The youngest is in the Kindergym class, and the other is in an after school class.
I felt compelled to write to you after last Saturday’s presentation, to express my awe and gratitude for helping my boys so wonderfully this year. We are relatively new to Scallywaggs, having only been attending for 3 months or so.
Beginning gymnastics at Scallywags has been the best thing for him this year. I explained his deficit to the staff at the first class, and they went above and beyond to ensure that he was encouraged, included and emotionally safe. They implemented all the strategies I suggested to get my son to overcome his processing difficulties in class. Rest assured, this is no easy feat, but every single session, they did it. After each class, they would communicate to me about his progress, his accomplishments, and always had something lovely to say about him. Their professionalism and kindness is an asset to your gym, but I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that! I have been incredibly impressed.
During the competition period, they went beyond her normal duties to ensure that he knew the routines, as he had missed a class or two. As a result, he won a bronze medal.
This was the first thing he has ever won for achievement and talent. Due to his receptive language delay, his accomplishments are often overlooked. However, at Scallywaggs, he was given an opportunity to thrive and soar, he was motivated and he succeeded.
For our family, the most important thing is that our boys love what they do, and he loves gymnastics. That’s the most important thing. Even if he’d never won a medal, he’d still love it. However, winning a medal increased his self esteem and confidence in himself more than ever.
Gymnastics at Scallywaggs has actually improved his language skills, as he listens intently to his teachers and carries out routines. He is agile and flexible and strong.
From a little boy at the beginning, who was unsure and shy and lacked confidence, he has become sure of himself, happy and eager to work hard and have fun with his gymnastics class.
Similarly, our younger son has enjoyed Kindergym very much. He is younger than the others and often hesitates to participate in circle time, however, the staff are constantly praising him, including him and letting him go at his own pace. They have been supportive and encouraging and constantly smiling.
The presentation on Saturday afternoon brought tears to my eyes. The support and inclusivity, not to mention the talent and the high level of expertise of all your gymnasts was most impressive. Your staff are amazing. I am so incredibly happy to be part of Scallywaggs and so are my boys.
Congratulations on a wonderful endeavour. Gymnastics is something my son wants to pursue and is incredibly motivated to do so.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday period.
“It goes without saying how much fun the children have”
Our family has been part of the Scallywaggs extended family since 2002 , my 2 daughters started crawling around this fantastic environment at the age of 16 months and still attend after school classes now.
There is something for everyone , one of my daughters comes purely for learning new skills , exercise and to see her favourite teacher each week whereas my other daughter loves the competitive aspects that are available and the challenges that her coach gives her .
From the moment you come in the door to Scallywaggs you feel welcome and with regular updates on how your children are progressing there is a general feeling that the coaches treat my children as their own showing supportive and nurturing qualities every time we attend .
It goes without saying how much fun the children have , always laughing and having a story to tell after gym classes . I would not hesitate in recommending (and already have) Scallywaggs to other families for their children. Thanks to Kit, Rod and all the Team involved with the success of this outstanding facility !!!
“You won’t find a better Kindergym or gymnastics facility than Scallywaggs”
My family has been a part of Scallywaggs for over 8 years- since our eldest daughter was 2. Our younger three have been in the gym since before they could walk! Scallywaggs is, without doubt the highlight of our week for every one of them- my eldest daughter has achieved skills and confidence that I never could have dreamed of and for my eldest son who has autism, Scallywaggs has formed an integral part of his social and physical development. The staff are amazing, so patient, so knowledgable and best of all they visibly LOVE what they do. So do the kids! My 5 year old daughter can already do cartwheels and handstands and she has learned these in one 45 minute fun filled class a week. Last week she got to dress as a super hero… This week a fairy! The excitement and enthusiasm that the coaches generate is contagious. As parents we love to watch our children thrive and learn and grow- I love that not only do I get to experience the classes first hand with my almost 2 year old, the games and songs and activities that we learn in the gym are so easy to replicate that the children do them at home without help or prompting- even the baby! I love that all of my children are growing up part of the Scallywaggs family and I genuinely feel sorry for any parent and child who doesn’t get to experience the joy of this one of a kind Kindyergym program. We absolutely love it- you won’t find a better Kindergym or gymnastics facility than Scallywaggs
“learn gymnastics the right way but with a lot of fun and laughs thrown in”
When Jooeun was about 3 we tried Scallywaggs and haven’t looked back since. Jooeun is very energetic, one of those kids that is always moving from when she gets up until bedtime so gymnastics is wonderful for her. She likes to learn new tricks and we feel safe for her to do that with the wonderful caring staff at Scallywaggs. Jooeun has had a few different instructors over the years and they are all very well trained and look after the little kids bodies. My son LiGao has always needed help with his motor skills, the staff have taken him on and he has done so well. Last week he walked across the balance beam on his own and was so proud of himself. He has also learnt to follow instructions and most importantly listen when the teachers are talking. He is so keen now he practices cartwheels at home, still with bent legs but he is encouraged and praised by the coaches at Scallywaggs and always wants to show them he can do better. Kit and Rod pick their instructors carefully, to make sure it is not only safe for the children but that they learn gymnastics the right way but with a lot of fun and laughs thrown in, it is really like a bit family atmosphere.
